A Wish

My wish,
That you can feel your own incandescent light
as clearly as you see mine
That you soar higher than you ever believed
you would
That you unbind yourself from self-imposed
limitations
Fears
That you break free to dream again
To be again

My wish,
That you allow challenges to meet you,
Choices to beckon you,
New paths to unfold before you
That you realize the potential, power, promise in you

My wish,
That your world mirrors your infinite beauty
That you love
And are always loved, and loved, and loved

We have met before; and my wish is
That some day, some time, some life
We will meet again

Away

Sometimes when our minds meet,
Our bodies touch
And our souls claim each other in the night
It seems impossible that we could be so far
And yet I feel the abysmal distance
Growing at a steady pace between us
In our longing for balance
We keep tipping the scale
And move farther from the center
For just as our emotions soar,
Answers become illusive, confusion reigns,
Our beliefs clash
And our paths intersect, never to merge again

Disconnection

You touch me
But can you see?
Do you feel it,
Or would you care
Even if you did?
What do you get from this,
Does it matter to you?
Should it not matter to me?
At night all bodies are gray
All voices are silenced
No dream ever remains
No real impression
On my soul, in your life;
Just another disconnection

Fear

Silhouette_hands-stefano-pollio-unsplash.jpg

Fear of being seen, fear of getting involved, fear
Of the consequences, fear of the causes, fear of feeling too much,
Fear of not feeling at all, fear of letting it out, fear of keeping it in,
Fear of getting to know, fear of being in the dark, fear
Of the pain, fear of the joy, fear of life, fear of death, fear of myself,
Fear of you, fear of us together,
Then apart,
Transcendental,
Overwhelming, incapacitating, powerful, raw, fear.

Love In Fur

At night all cats are gray
In the dark, in the shadows
Of our beings
Other mystical realms
But light reveals glaring colors,
Beguiling nuances
Sinuous shapes, sharp senses

Independent love
Yet needy, demanding at times
Disdainful love
Yet profound, intense at times

Always watchful, ever present
Loyal, playful, mischievous
Love in fur

My Heart Beats With His
(To R.)

As we embrace, our hearts touch
I can’t tell which pulse is mine
Or which is his
Where it ends or begins
Our rhythms intermingle
Sometimes in rapid surges
At times in subtle, slow waves
As they drum to the same beat
His sound invades my chest
As it returns home
A long-lost home
His intensity multiplies in mine
The silence between the beats
Caresses us gently, peacefully
My heart beats with his
Simply, purely, naturally
Eternally with his

No Room For Sadness

It shouldn’t make any difference
that we can’t be with each other again
Touch each other again
Acknowledge our feelings for each other again
It doesn’t matter that our connection expressed in love
has become too heavy for our inescapable realities
(if it ever was light)
It’s not important that mere distant exchanges between us
will have to suffice, or probably cease altogether
It’s irrelevant that our memories of each other
will eventually fade away, or simply be replaced
Because in this empty bed
in this lonely room
in the middle of this wretched life
There is
No room for sadness

Our Hearts Touched

Before words were spoken
and promises were made
Before our hands held each other
Our close embraces became closer
And our lips exchanged moist secrets
in tender abandonment
Before we built moments together,
And friendship evolved into love
Before our passion was allowed to erupt
and carry us in its molten river
Before our souls decided time had come
to share a path, a meaning, a life
Long before our minds finally knew
with that certainty so important to mortals
and meaningless to angels
Our hearts touched

Sheltered Shell

Sheltered life, sheltered heart
Bland living, bland feeling
Muffled, muted, morose...
Can the depth of the sea
Really
Be understood from the sounds
That reflect inside of a seashell?

Sucking The Air

Yes, I suck the air out of the room
Because it’s there, because I can
Because there’s plenty more
where that came from
Because it’s my God-given right
To be proud, to be passionate
To be Woman living my truth
Breathing, taking it all in
Stepping into my power and
Sucking the air out of the room
